A Poem Of My Own

i do not wish to see, any closer, the stars in the dark
nor the wide rolling vastness of blue waves
nor seas of rippling amber or grey grasses

i care not for open, drifting sands that are dry
as well as the spanning emptiness of white
nor immense tracks of hardened lands

bring me away and up, to the mountains
where the trees gather in groves, tall and broad
where they mingle and share and support
and ever thicker grows the many shades of emeralds and earth
where hight and falling water dance side by each
and there is a heavy comfort in the filtered light and sounds

i wish to meander in that lush thickness of existence
till i gather the impression that it is all boxed
for i perceive my visions to be secure around me
thou i expect to reach a top, look out,
and see how far my dreams may travel
with more peaks and warm light
and cool shadows leaning toward me
