Vote For GEORGE!!!

i admit-, this years have remained willfully ignorant of “politics”. A lawful and dignified sounding synonymy for “ideology”; which unfortunately is not the studio of idiots, but a ideal far more constitutional.

An ideology is a set of ideas that constitute one’s goals, expectations, and actions. An ideology is a comprehensive vision, a way of looking at things (compare worldview) as in several philosophical tendencies, or a set of ideas proposed by the dominant class of a society to all members of this society (a “received consciousness” or product of socialization).”

soon love soon, we will see the patterns of centuries rise and fall

i found myself tonight having a tragic encounter with a television. There was a documentary about Ptown!(R). There were a few ol’ grey haired queers talking about the “wild west style” days which founded the quaint village. All 400 of them alike were jobless, penniless, drunkard, artists, castaways that welcomed the like of communist and homosexuals to survive together by freely sharing what they could salvage from the waste of the established army base! Then it hits me, like a ton of lard, how disappointingly true it is that the illness from the mundane bengiality of mcdonals, gap, and walmart has been loading itself into jet planes too hyper-voimt its idiotic patriots onto the sidewalks and of every dying amerkian dream. i found myself suffering thru the sad story of the death of the radical historical landmark.

its just a little bit of history repeating

One of the elders speaking on the documentary, with weary eyes, stared into the camera and stated; “when the rich move in, the poor move out.” simple as that, huh?

i needed some george carlin to cheer me up!

Road Trip

this is what happens when i get bored with photoshop around.

i found this cute little web-sticker on the facebook that said: “Beautiful things happen in your life when you distance yourself from all negative things.” the quote got me thinking.

i did a file count in my photography library for each full year i’ve owned my digital camera and noted which state i was living in at the time. (i’ve put some miles on these feet choosing to live as a fagabond.) i think the numbers speak for themselves… apparently the further away from RI i am the more beautiful life gets! 🙂 let me spell it out for in case you don’t get the visuals; in 2009 i took 1,639 photos while living on the east coast (RI/MA). rather pathetic for a photographer. yet just two short years later, while living in Oregon, i took 14,570 photos!!! that’s a marginal difference of 12,931 life loving moments! (an average of 39.91 a day!!!)

sooo, dear new england, you can take your patriotism, your attitudes, your hyper-energized road rage, your proclaimed progressiveness, your dirty-foul smelling over populated streets littered with syringes and dunkin donuts cups, pack it all into your crack pipe and smoke it!

i am fucking out of here! if you need me i’ll be on the w(b)est coast meditating peacefully in the clean, fresh, quiet mountain air waiting for the big one to toss me into the ocean! 🙂 i won’t be returning to the (l)east coast so look me up if you want to check out the flip side. 😉

Breaking my vow of silence

in the wake of the nyc wall street protests that “may or may not be happening”, im hearing (via facebook because i dont watch tv or read tv approved news on the internet) that there is a wave of cities “organizing” there own “protests” throughout the country.

soo… i looked it up. my local protest in portland, or is “scheduled” for thrusday oct 6th at waterfront park at noon. (im sure the bums, rats, seagulls and nighttime entertainment district are really interested in what you have to say)

im wondering about the social “etiquette” in this situation??? should i go over to the facebook and “RSVP” to be tear-gassed and beaten down by the riot police?? or should i just come out and say….

are you fucking people serious??? an organized event where we are safe from persecution, within our civil rights, IS NOT A FUCKING PROTEST!; its a bunch of “monkeys” making noise!!! i think of it in the same light as going to the county fair. monkey see monkey do. everyone’s going to show up, hold up there signs/flags, do some mating calls and then go home to eat dinner in front of the tv to check out the turn out. really???

as a wise ol’ sage sang to me… “as long as you play their game girl you’re never going to win.”

correct me if im wrong, isn’t it our civil rights that are being shit on? are you protesting to take them back? (or are you upset in your salary cut and fact that now you can afford a beamer?) i ask because im trying to make sense of how “behaving” within our suppressed civil rights is going break the oppression that could reclaim them??

who do think is going to listen if you’re playing by the rules? the suites in high rises will look down at the park, giggle at the gathering of angry unemployed people standing around anxiously at the waters edge as they go to their next investment meeting….. i can see the headline now…. “poster board and markers on sale at wal-mart!” dont you need some of this??

if you want to make a difference ….. oh fuck, there i go again sounding like one of you…. nevermind, nix all that… just listen to this song…

Tao Te Ching #65

The ancient Masters
didn’t try to educate people,
but kindly taught them to not-know.

When they think that they know the answers,
people are difficult to guide.
When they know that they don’t know,
people can find their own way.

If you want to learn how to govern,
avoid being clever or rich.
The simplest pattern is the clearest.
Content with an ordinary life,
you can show all people the way
back to their own true nature.

Tao Te Ching #9

Better to stop short than fill to the brim.
Over-sharpen the blade, and the edge will soon blunt.
Amass a store of gold and jade, and no one can protect it.
Claim wealth and titles, and disaster will follow.
Retire when the work is done.
This is the way of heaven.

Queer Thoughts

Tonight John Cameron Mitchell, writer, director and star of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (among others) is going to be in town on tour with his Mattachine Dance Party which is “promoting ethical homosexual culture everywhere”. Before the the event he and his fellow artisans are doing a meet-n-greet at the local Queer Center. It sounds if its going to be a press conference style of meet-n-greet so I spent a few moments scratching my head to come with something to say/ask other than, “Oh My Gawd! I love you and your movie!” (which I really do, I have an image from Hedwig tattooed on me. 😉

My thoughts and question being….

In that past few generations of queer history we’ve come through the most server persecution during WWII into an era of hiding for the fear of being involuntarily jailed or institutionalized which ultimately lead to Stonewall and our own cultural liberation during the 70s that then was tested by the AIDS epidemic through the 80s which brings us to today’s 20-something generation who watched the gradual politically corrected acceptance of the now GlBT, lady gaga and logo media crazed public imagine of what gay culture can be.

With the evidence of how media outlets project an often one-sided image while also considering the consequences of any cultures ignorance to its own history: Do we really feel we’ve made any progress by stepping into line with the masses??

If this diatribe is too long to spit out at this event I’ve also edited a short version:

In the past century Queer culture has been through a roller coaster ride of ups and downs landing us in today’s politically corrected acceptance of logo and lady gaga media sensations. With the evidence of how media outlets project an often one-sided image while also considering the consequences of any cultures ignorance to its own history: Do we really feel we’ve made any progress by stepping into line with the masses??

This is not just a question for Hedwig. Please comment! I want to know your opinion as well!!!

a lil slip of a girly boy…

a friend of mine posted a link on my facebook page and asked my “thoughts” about this attached photo and article. i thought it was worthy to repost on here because its great social commentary that all so many of us are aware of, yet, even more of us are content to ignore. just like all of the other “issues” that are fed to daily in our sickly sad “culture”.

the article:

On Lad Mags and Masculine Panic

June 2, 2011 by Ned Resnikoff

Say this about lad mags: Their writing may be clunky and their attitude towards women troubling, but they do offer a fascinating window into a peculiar type of male anxiety. Take FHM‘s 2011 edition of their Sexiest Women in the World list. Over one million readers of the UK’s equivalent to Maxim voted to rank various models, singers and actresses. #98 on the list–just ahead of Lady Gaga–was originally fashion model Andrej Pejic, who is actually a male model with androgynous features. His entry has since been removed and replaced with an apology, but one Pejic fan managed to snap a screenshot of the accompanying copy before it went away.

The copy isn’t pretty. After calling him a “thing,” FHM’s anonymous writer notes Pejic’s desire to model for Victoria’s Secret with a churlish plea for someone to “pass the sick bucket.” Androgynous male models, he (I’m assuming it’s a he) writes, are “one fashion trend we won’t be following.”

Did the editors really forget to make sure the copy passed their exceedingly high editorial standards? Did they intend to make Pejic an object of scorn, or was that just some freelancer taking the initiative? We’ll probably never know, but that’s not really the interesting part. What fascinates me is just how much the writer’s scorn reveals.

What it tells us is that FHM and its ilk is about more than famous women in awkward poses and states of undress: It exists not just to titillate but to reaffirm the masculinity of those reading it. I submit that’s why the original Pejic entry, no matter what FHM says, is in keeping with the mission of the magazine. FHM readers are invited to sneer at him because he doesn’t conform to their notions of maleness. And identifying and isolating the “other” like that reinforces their own place in the boys’ club.

Which puts FHM writers in the difficult position of having to simultaneously acknowledge why their readers found him beautiful (which he is, in a delicate, almost angelic way) while also making ostentatious displays of their disgust. It’s a neat trick. But for me, anyway, it inspires more pity than anger. If you’re looking for affirmation of your identity in a lad mag’s heteronormative slurs, then dude, you need help.

my commentary was:

andrej looks fragile. he looks beautiful because he looks abused and venerable for the slag that fhm is pushing, and we all know the macho-man feels better about the size of his “penis” when he has someone to push around. theyre selling soft-core porno and fantasy. which obviously someone is getting off on or there wouldnt be an issue. and i say, good for andrej!!! he and his team are making waves in a bullshit “homosexual run” industry that has nothing to do with art or expression. just the fact that hes getting noticed means rubbing elbows with the right closet cases. 🙂

her reply: X, you are brilliant!

make of it what you will. i expect most will treat this like a political attack. which is way i almost didnt post it at first, thou, after thinking a moment i decided that social commentary does not fit into my vow of silence on political issues.

my (shitty) opinion being: politics are just a social game we all play with money and rules based on what our opinions of what our behavior should be that is being dictated by our “culture”. what is culture to 98% amerkians?? TV / magazines / malls / walmart / big box stores / fast food / the news / news papers like US Today / hollywood block busters…. etc…

the more of this bullshit im exposed too the more sick i feel. weve created a mind-destroying virus thats here to stay. and i dont care whom i offend anymore, if you dont like it you have the freedom to go watch CNN/FOX.

there is a cure for this virus thou! (so maybe i should call it a bacteria or fungus?) but, youre not going to like it………

World Naked Bike Ride Streaking!

A preview of an up coming photography project!

World Naked Bike Ride, Portland OR, 2011

I want to be naked, running through the streets
I want to invite this so called chaos, that you’d think I dare not be
I want to be weightless, flying through the air
I want to drop all these limitations at the shoes upon my feet
I want to be naked, running through the streets
I want to invite this so called chaos, that you’d think I dare not be
I want to be weightless, flying through the air
I want to drop all these limitations and return to what I was born to be!
